Here's your chance to be the official representative of the Meeker Days Festival! The Lil' Miss Meeker Days pageant will be held Saturday, June 19, 2010 from 1:00-3:00 pm on the Community Stage located in Pioneer Park in downtown Puyallup during the Meeker Days Festival.

Developed to provide a charming and magical experience for young girls, the Lil Miss Meeker Days Pageant focuses on creativity and friendship. The objective is to promote positive self-esteem and awareness and is a confidence building experience during a young girls' social developmental years.

Young ladies will compete for the honor of representing the Meeker Days Festival throughout the year at various events such as the Hometown Santa Parade, Daffodil Festival Grand Floral Parade and the opening day of the Farmers' Market.

Open to girls age 6 to 9 who reside or attend school in Puyallup, Sumner/Bonney Lake or Orting.

Participants are scored on personality, etiquette skills, creativity, and a simple talent. Read a poem, perform a scene from a favorite movie, twirl a baton, sing, dance, show us tricks you've taught your dog or do a presentation of your artwork. Whatever! You're only limited to your creativity and imagination. (The talent portion of the program should not exceed 2 min. in length.)

Every participant is invited to attend a workshop on basic etiquette and simple social skills such as greeting people, handshaking, eye contact, conversational tips, dining skills and tea etiquette. Afterwards they will be treated to a special Lil Miss Meeker Tea where they will receive an official Lil' Miss Meeker Days t-shirt that they will wear during the competition. They are encouraged to embellish the t-shirt with beads, paint, glitter, etc. but they are restricted from cutting or tearing the T-shirt.

Cost to enter is $10/entry and is non-refundable.

The winner of Lil' Miss Meeker Days will receive a $100 savings bond, tiara, flowers and will become the official representative of the Meeker Days Festival. The runner up will receive a $50 savings bond and flowers.
