This March, come to downtown Puyallup and share your Celtic heritage. We will be putting a new twist on the tradition of wearing green. The Celtic tradition is celebrated by music, good food and community... all of our favorite things. Here's just a sampling of activities that are scheduled:
Pooch Parade - 12:00 pm
Everyone is invited to bring bring your pooch to Pioneer Park for the second annual Celtic Faire Pooch Parade. Follow the leprechaun down the sidewalks of downtown Puyallup then afterwards head back to Pioneer Park where you'll be able to get information on the Celtic-bred dogs by local rescue groups and breeders. You can also take in a demonstration of Frisbee Dogs in Pioneer Park, play dog-related games, and enter the Dog & Pet Costume Contest to win a valuable gift basket from local merchants.
Enjoy a Celtic Meal or Brew!
Several downtown restaurants will be serving up authentic Irish/Scottish dishes again this year. You'll find Irish stew, steak and kidney pie, Shepherds pie, potato leek soup along with Meeker Mansion's cornbeef and cabbage and plenty of Irish and Scottish beers, too, at the Beer Garden!
Dig Out Those Kilts!
Here's a great opportunity to dust off that kilt and show off your heritage. Many of the members of local Scottish Clan will be located all throughout the downtown area and available to share their heritage with you. We'll also have many of the Clans banners featuring their crests scattered thoughout downtown where you can view them. Pick up a map at our office!
"The Great Kilt" Demonstration
Master Kilt Maker, Kathy McWilliams, will be on hand again this year with demonstrations of "The Great Kilt."
Pancake Breakfast / Senior Health and Information Fair
In addition to the Celtic fun, the Puyallup Activities Center will once again be holding some fun events. Come and enjoy a pancake breakfast from 8:00-11:00am. $4 per adult / $1 per child 6 and under.
