The Puyallup Main Street Association, a member of the National Main Street Association, incorporated in May 1989. A 20-member Board of Directors elected from the membership governs the organization. An Executive Director, trained and experienced in the Main Street approach, manages day-to-day operations. The Puyallup Main Street Association draws on volunteers from throughout the community and represents the voice of the downtown Puyallup business community to City Hall. The Association enlists residents, businesses and government at all levels to bring renewed activity, vitality and pride to downtown Puyallup.
The Puyallup Main Street Association is a charitable 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization whose mission is to create a vital, inviting downtown Puyallup which will promote quality business, cultural and community growth. With the support of citizens, property owners, business owners and the City of Puyallup, the Puyallup Main Street Association leads the downtown Puyallup revitalization effort. Participation in Puyallup Main Street Association events and meetings is open to all residents and businesses, member or not. However, as a member based organization as defined by IRS guidelines, membership in Main Street is required for an individual to chair a committee or vote on matters deliberated before any committee. A business must be a current member in order to participate in co-operative advertising programs and coupon books under the auspices of PMSA.
