"Come Wine With Me"

Saturday, May 16, 2009

1:00-6:00 pm

Make plans to attend the Spring Art & Wine Walk on Saturday, May 16. The event will follow a green theme, featuring more than 30 wines from around the world made with grapes farmed with sustainable, earth-friendly methods and are rated as organic or biodynamic. Art for the event will focus on compositions with found or reclaimed media and Nature as the subject. This event is produced by the Puyallup Main Street Association with the assistance of Valley Arts United and sponsorship of the Puyallup Rotary.

Attendance at the Art & Wine Walk will be limited to only 600 tickets. The
intent is to offer a relaxed afternoon (from 1:00PM until 6:00PM) with friends sampling fine wine and exploring a variety of art expressions. Ticket price has been set at $20 each, which is good for tastes of 8 wines from about 20 art, food and wine sites distributed throughout Downtown Puyallup, a collectible
wine glass, food bites, and docent-lead art tours. Extra taste tickets
will be available for $1.00 each.

Valley Arts United, who is coordinating the art, anticipate a variety of local artists in action, creating collages, mosaic, reclaimed wood and metal sculpture, plus basketry, photography, and paint on canvas. Attendees can choose from three docent tours through the Arts Downtown Outdoor Gallery. Dixie Rogerson-Bill, a nationally-known painter/sculptor, will be present as a special guest. Native to the State of Washington, Dixie is known for her whimsical wine and nature-motif work. Art from most artists will be available for purchase.

Aside from wine and art, attendees can also enjoy food bites from local eateries and Puyallup Farmer’s Market specialty food vendors. Ticket holders can participate in “Find the Bottle,” a fun search for five local-artist-decorated wine bottles hidden around host sites. The winner of this game will receive a
$250 gift certificate from a local retailer.

Once again the Art & Wine Walk will pair up with the Puyallup Food Bank and Distribution Center, to collect both money and food donations to benefit the Food Bank. Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation or cash contribution.

You can get more information by calling (253) 840-2631.
